Texts, Languages, and Communities - TEI 2024 is the twenty-fourth conference of the TEI, and the first to take place in a Spanish-speaking country. The TEI is one of the initiatives that has managed to endure over time and build an active community of users and practitioners inside and outside the Digital Humanities field. While for many years it gathered a predominantly English-speaking community, numerous projects —especially those related to digital editing— emerged during the very early days of the TEI in Spanish-speaking countries, bringing together scholars from Spain and Latin America.
This conference aims at highlighting the global outreach of the TEI together with its local adaptations. It hopes to bring us together as a diverse and multilingual community, where the exchange of experiences and shared learning help us to reflect on the texts we investigate, the languages we use, and the communities we create.
The conference will be held in-person at Universidad del Salvador, 7-11 October 2024. Pre-conference workshops will run on the 7-8 October, with the conference opening and running for the 9-11 October.
Textos, lenguas y comunidades - TEI 2024 es el vigésimo cuarto congreso de la TEI y el primero que se lleva a cabo en un país hispanohablante. La TEI es una de las iniciativas para la codificación de textos de las Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales que ha logrado sostenerse en el tiempo, ocupando un lugar central en el campo de las Humanidades Digitales. Si bien durante muchos años la TEI reunió entre sus miembros a una comunidad mayoritariamente anglófona, no son pocos los proyectos –principalmente los relacionados con la edición digital– que surgieron desde épocas muy tempranas en países de habla hispana y que reunieron a interesados de España y América Latina.
Este congreso busca destacar el alcance global de la TEI, de la mano de sus adaptaciones locales. Aspira así a ser un evento que nos interpele como comunidad diversa y multilingüe, donde el intercambio de experiencias y el aprendizaje compartido nos permitan reflexionar sobre los textos que investigamos, las lenguas que usamos y las comunidades que creamos.
Proponemos cinco días de trabajo en la Universidad del Salvador en los que dedicaremos los días 7 y 8 de octubre al dictado de talleres iniciales y avanzados sobre edición y publicación de textos con TEI, y los días 9, 10 y 11 para sesiones de conferencias plenarias, presentaciones y demos.
